My husband and I live within our city’s limits. When we got a new fridge and stove we put the Frankenstein classic shirt But I will love this old ones out at the curb knowing someone would come by and collect it for scrap or something, I’m not sure. A guy in a pickup came and both the fridge and stove were gone in less than 10 minutes of being put on the curb. There’s value in that junk! Same thing happened with my brother and I. We got a new dishwasher and I told him to put the old one on the curb when he asked me what to do with it. He was like, “no one is gonna want this thing, it’s broken!” sure enough I get a text later that day, “someone took the dishwasher, you were right”. Whether it gets scrapped or fixed, someone will take an appliance like that.

The garbage is the can’s owners property until it is picked up, at that point it becomes the waste management company’s property. It’s not a free-for-all once it’s at the curb.
